Lead Product Designer, Lending Systems
Unloan, Built by CommBank
About Us
Unloan is an exciting new venture backed by x15ventures. Our mission is to revolutionise the fintech landscape and provide Australians with a better deal in an important financial category - home loans. As a customer-first team, we value data-based customer insights to inform strategy and optimisation. We are a flexible company that promotes hybrid work. We have our HQ at CommBank's South Eveleigh campus, but we have offices across the country, so you can be based anywhere.
Where would you fit?
Reporting to the Chief Experience Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic design of our lending operations platforms and systems. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, product, engineering, and marketing, to create and implement design strategies that drive customer engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Your leadership will ensure that our digital products provide seamless, intuitive, and delightful experiences for our users.
Role Overview
As Unloan continues to scale, we recognize the pivotal role of UX design in shaping market-leading user experiences. We're looking for an experienced and passionate design leader who is obsessed with delivering exceptional user experiences.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the innovation and strategy of services and platforms that underpin our internal user experiences.
Leveraging our delivery partners' latest technology and product roadmaps to ensure we design a service experience that always takes advantage of new available opportunities as they emerge.
Owning the end-to-end design of our operations platform – from internal user research, wireframing, and prototyping.
Partnering with the product team to identify user needs, conduct user testing, and incorporate feedback to iteratively improve designs.
Mentoring other members of the Unloan design team - fostering creativity, delivery excellence and maintaining design consistency across projects.
Your Skills & Experience
We're looking for a design leader who deeply understands user behaviour and interaction patterns and can create cohesive service experiences that work seamlessly across platforms and systems.
The ideal candidate will bring the following qualifications and expertise:
7+ years of proven experience in UX design, with a track record of delivering successful digital products or services.
Strong systems thinking and service design skills.
Expertise in crafting wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch).
Proficiency in interaction design, information architecture, and usability testing methodologies.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Desired Skills:
Experience working in an Agile development environment.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
You're a passionate, cultural shepherd -- you find it easy and fun to stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging design technologies to continuously elevate and influence Unloan's design standards across all the layers of the business.
You have problem-solving in your DNA, and don't shy away from working with others to share and solve complex problems.
A background in SaaS, or start-up organisations is advantageous.
Research shows that people from underrepresented backgrounds sometimes hesitate to apply for roles if they don't meet every requirement. If this is you, don’t worry - we still encourage you to apply. We are committed to creating a workplace that supports long-lasting and meaningful careers for everyone, and your unique skills and perspective might be just what we’re looking for!
Why Join Us?
Enjoy a flexible and dynamic start-up environment
We nurture a safe space for our people to show up as they are!
